PAIN what is it and why do I have it?

Craig and I have been on a Pain Relief Seminar – we see so many people struggling with intense PAIN, this is not right. This is not the way we are meant to live, so we went in search of cures or even some answers.  (You may need a pen and paper to answer some of the questions).

Here is what we learnt

Generally most think that aging and pain go hand in hand. What if we tell you it need not be so; the success formula is to identify what it is you are dealing with, what is the CAUSE?  So many tend to chase symptoms and ignore the cause. Time to rethink. There is no doubt in our mind the POWER of brain and body connection. You need to visualise what it is you want to achieve, plan and commit to the process.  If you do not know how to do this look for a professional who can help you achieve this.

Ask yourself the following: WHY YOU WANT THIS? STOP BEATING YOURSELF UP this impacts on your Health and makes pain worse. When you achieve your goal, CELEBRATE. That does not mean eat/drink bad food.

We often hear people telling us they are HEALTHY – DEFINE HEALTHY?  We say healthy is how you are functioning.  Do you wake up without pain? Do you wake up with Zest for Life?  Do you wake up in a good mood?    Are you on chemicals to control symptoms, if so remember Doctor prescribed chemical pills will not fix you they manage symptoms which Pop OUT somewhere else.  Is this really HEALTHY then?

VISUALISE QUESTION?  If health would be perfect what would it look like to you?

SKILLS QUESTION?  What have you done until now to explain your current situation of your health?

If you are not healthy -    clearly it is not working!

MOTIVATION QUESTION?  What would you be able to do or achieve that you cannot do now, due to your current circumstance.

You need to get to root cause – you cannot solve something by managing symptoms. If you do not remove the root cause it WILL COME BACK.  Are you looking for a bandage or a solution? The PURPOSE OF A SYMPTOM is to tell you it is TIME TO MAKE A CHANGE. STOP DOING WHAT YOU DOING – it is clearly NOT working. PAIN has a purpose this in an ALARM,  you need a LIFESTYLE change. (Pain is a symptom  -  it is equivalent to your cars warning light coming on). PAIN is always the LAST  thing to COME  and the LAST thing to GO. It is actually an injured nervous system – to the point of breakdown.  STOP  thinking about this, the more you focus on the pain, the more intense it becomes.

Do you exercise regularly, Do you breathe correctly? Do you harbour negative emotions?  If so let them go, they are toxic to your body and making you ill. We all need to take full responsibility for ourselves.  Our relationships with ourselves will create the life we want.  (STOP - Give that some thought) The first relationship you have is with yourself. Appreciate your own goodness – how you feel  in your brain.

Take time to think about this question: ARE YOU RESPONSIBILE FOR WHATEVER YOU HAVE OBTAINED? Wealth, Health, Happiness and even Pain. When you fail to accept personal responsibility what consequences are you likely to have?

When you choose to accept personal responsibility how different might your life be?

New behavioural traits to develop:

  1. TAKE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY  (only you can change your current situation)
  2. SELF CARE   How ?  Nutrition, exercise, breathing, sleep, laughter, grounding etc.
  3. DISCOVERY – what switches you on or off 
  4. SOUND MIND  - STAND GUARD AT THE DOORS TO YOUR MIND
  5. TREAT YOURSELF WITH KINDNESS

** WHAT YOU DO AND THINK IMPACTS ON YOU AND YOUR HEALTH **

The person you look at in the mirror is the person responsible

For where you are  in your life.

Most people get trapped in guilt mode.  Overcome that – forgive yourself and choose to forgive everyone else this will change your focus, this is not easy but simple. Wake up to a white canvas every day – wow I get to paint a new picture.  This will take energy and focus, but can be so simple.

Think about this :  FAILING TO MAKE A CHANGE IMPACTS ON MY FUTURE. Ask yourself this question:  HOW WILL MAKING A CHANGE – POSITIVELY IMPACT MY FUTURE. If you are living in a mess – you have somehow managed to create that mess.  Look in the Mirror. What if you choose to see responsibility as a blessing – could this get you to change your focus. PERSONAL POWER – begins with self acceptance. We are born and made great. We have the capacity to choose.

ANGER, FEAR AND MISTRUST – you have to replace these.  You are in charge of your future.

Those who learn to take full responsibility for their lives get to live extraordinary lives.  It can take just 21 days to change a habit and start creating that extraordinary life. Look at every CHALLENGE as an OPPORTUNITY.  When you have a clear vision you will see the opportunity as a challenge instead of a difficulty.  ALWAYS LOOK AT IT AS AN OPPORTUNITY.

WHY DO WE NOT HEAL?

  1. Negative thoughts  - our brains are powerful
  2. Trauma – accident, injury, emotional
  3. Toxins – environment, food, body care products, pesticides, emotional yes also a toxin,  Genetically modified foods etc.  Too many to mention.

Make an AGREEMENT with yourself, BELIEVE it and thrive. Triumph is often nearest when defeat seems inaccessible. BELIEVE YOU CAN THRIVE when you take this step forward.

EFFICIENCY is doing things right. EFFECTIVENESS is doing the right things.  Are you sure you are doing the right things to achieve a healthy balanced life.

Unassisted quality SLEEPS is critical to heal.  You can be doing all the right things but without this you will not heal – P O W E R F U L

If my LIFE depended on the next action I took – how differently would I perform that action?

IF YOU DO NOT CHANGE THE PARADIGM THAT YOU CAN TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR HOW YOU THINK AND HOW YOU BEHAVE AND HOW YOU INTERACT WITH OTHERS.  NOTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE.

When you find the answer you will have the blue print to your life.

THE MIRACLE IS YOU. YOUR BODY CAN HEAL.

The take home message for us  here is lots but so often we are confronted with people with a diagnosis and are quite happy they have a name for their ILLNESS and maybe look for empathy or even sympathy.  Which of course is understandable but not acceptable? When actually we should use this challenge to rise up and find answers the symptom is really a message to your body saying what you doing is not working. Incidentally one of the guest speakers’  at this seminar was diagnosed with Pulmonary  Hypertension and was given two years to live.  He would have to have a heart transplant and receive a new set of lungs as he could barely breathe.  (it  is now 15 years later)  He chose neither he went in search of what he was doing wrong in his life that created these symptoms.  THAT IS OUR TAKE HOME MESSAGE. When I am faced with a symptom I always question what am I doing wrong to create this symptom? THINK OUT THE BOX, NEVER STOP ASKING QUESTIONS.
